shears inn was an amazin quirky place! the budget double room had lots of character and was super clean. the staff were so friendly and helpful, really made me feel welcome. enjoyed some tasty homemade food in the pub, and there was a great selection of draught beers too. the quiet leafy setting was a nice change from the usual hotel vibe.
the heating wasn't great, could've been warmer during my stay. also, the tv remotes were a bit confusing to use.

Great food and friendly vibes!
We stayed for 2 nights in a budget room and loved the food. Seriously, the meals were like home-cooked goodness! Staff were super nice and made us feel welcome. The room was basic tho. it really needs a refresh. Bar noise could be annoying if you're a light sleeper. All in all, a decent spot!

The food at the pub was fantastic, and I loved unwinding in the cozy garden area while sipping on my coffee. There’s a lovely space for chilling out with a book and another spot by the flowers for some fresh air. The TV didn’t have great reception, but I didn't let it ruin my stay! 😊

Had a great time with my friends exploring the area! We enjoyed visiting Shay Stadium and the Eureka Museum for Children. The place has a cozy vibe and is a good spot to unwind after a day out. The casks are in good shape, and even though I missed breakfast, I've heard good things about it. Definitely a place I'd return to.
The only downside was that the bar door was locked when I left in the morning, and I had to return the room keys through the letterbox, which seemed inconvenient. It gave a bit of a strange vibe to the end of my stay.

It was a suitable option for one night in Halifax with value for price. Breakfast was a hot buffet with unlimited coffee and fresh food. If you have trouble finding the reception, just ask around for help.

This charming inn features exceptional homemade food, including delicious natural cut fries, complemented by friendly and helpful staff who truly enhance the experience. The quaint atmosphere and clean, cozy Budget Double Room made for a comfortable three-night stay, though the decor shows signs of age. Unfortunately, a rude interaction with staff during check-out left a sour note, detracting from an otherwise pleasant visit.

Comfy stay in a cute spot
Had a lovely time with my daughter. The cozy room was super clean and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud! The staff were really friendly and helped us find stuff to do around town. Only bummer was the small bathroom. Plus, enjoyed some yummy homemade food at the little bar. Would def come back!

The Budget Double Room could use some updates to enhance comfort.

Couple looking for a getaway
The food was insane, I mean that roast was like a piece of heaven on a plate just hit the spot after a long drive. And the staff, they were friendly, like they really cared you know, makes a difference.
It wasn't cheap but still acceptable for what you got.

missingWrote a review on Mar 10generous breakfastscenic watercramped quarters
Generous breakfast options set the tone for the stay, offering a solid start to the day. The nearby water adds a scenic touch, perfect for a quick walk to clear your mind after a night spent in a compact room.
The Budget Double Room feels cramped, with barely enough space to maneuver around the bed, and the wardrobe door drags on the carpet, making it a challenge to open. Bathrooms are particularly narrow, forcing a sideways shuffle to reach the toilet, and the shower door design is clumsy—it gets caught on the toilet, complicating use. A lack of basic amenities like plastic cups and blackout options also detracts from the experience. the noise from the bar below is disruptive, impacting rest during the night.

Ideal for friends getting together
The food was fantastic, portions were insane, like I felt I was getting my money’s worth. We had dinner, then breakfast, everything was fresh and just what we needed after a long day.
It wasn’t cheap, but honestly for what we got, it still felt fair.

Warm and Cozy Vibes
We stayed for 4 nights and really loved it! The pub had this super inviting atmosphere with a cozy fire and lovely home-cooked meals. The Budget Double Room was simple but clean and comfy. Just a heads-up, the noise from the bar might not be great for light sleepers. The staff were really friendly, too.
